How long can you leave an earring out before the whole closes when the piercing is fresh?

I want to get my ears pierced but my job doesn't allow it and I know I have to keep them in for at least six weeks before they heal 100%. My shifts are only 5 hours at a time so would I be able to take out the earrings for my shifts then put them back in at the end? Please help asap, I want to do this tomororw nite.
