I have sensitive ears; what kind of earrings can/should I use?

I've had my ears pierced before. About 3-5 times I've had them re-pierced. Everytime I've had them re-pierced they closed up. I'm pretty sure it is because of the type of metal that was used. So, my question is: What type of earring can be used for sensitive ears??
