Is pearls before swine a cop out?

The expression don't cast your pearls before swine means don't throw away something valuable to someone who has no appreciation of it and would just as likely trample it under their foot in the mud. You have to admit in this forum disrespect, derision, and lack of sincerity are all too common place sp much so at times it feels like a privilege to meet someone who is decent.
