well america was not cowardly in dropping a bomb on hiroshima and nagasaki, they were smart. they official death tole was somewhere around 40k in both cities. however, the civilian and military death tole predictions for a mainland invasion totaled in the millions on both sides. also, the japanese were cowardly, but not in the way the world sees it. the declaration of war was supposed to come from the japanese ambassador in hawaii minutes before the attack began, so in that sense it was cowardly. however, the warning did not come because the attack proceeded slightly early, so there was no warning or resistance from the americans.
